The Christmas Gift Program 2009
The South Bend Chapter of the Christ Child Society’s generous members have been brightening the lifes of our area’s needy children and families since 1951 in the many ways outlined on this website, such as providing lovely layettes for newborns and the warmth and comfort of winter coats, hats and gloves. Perhaps at no time are the playful wishes of needy children more evident, though, than during the season of Christmas.
In the spirit of The Christ Child, members generously donate both their time and their treasure to ensure those children we serve and clothe also enjoy the spark that new toys bring through our Annual Christmas Gift Program.
Prior Successes!!
In 2008, The Christ Child Society’s Christmas Gift Program brought the true spirit of the season into the hearts and homes of 46 families with 122 children in most need throughout our service area. This was made possible through gracious gifts of time and talent from more than 36 volunteers, as well as generous monetary contributions from several members.
How does the program work?
Each year, our organization teams with the St. Vincent de Paul Society to identify and serve families with children in need. St. Vincent’s forwards family information, demographics (ages, genders of children), and even gift preferences. Christ Child volunteers can elect to help in a number of ways ~
*By adopting a family & purchasing gifts of toys for the children;
*By shopping for toys utilizing funds donated from other Christ Child members;
*By delivering gifts to the needy families;
*By delivering food baskets supplied by the Saint Vincent de Paul Society;
*By contributing a monetary amount (applicable for following year’s program).
How can I participate?
Despite the hustle and hectic days surrounding the holidays, we invite you to join with your fellow members and help us bring the true meaning, and real spirit of The Christ Child to those so less fortunate than we by your involvement in the Christmas Gift Program.
